Workshop - Newport Beach 1980- Page 2 of 8

Continuing.....

Well, I wouldn't know, you'd have to be around them a while and find out.  Some of them are super enthusiastic or else they're so excited people mistake it for enthusiasm.  I would say that if you just leave them alone and don't try to make 'em be too good and too proper and live up to too many standards, yes, that most kids have a certain degree of enthusiasm.  They have an abundance of energy because they are enthusiastic; but as soon as you convince them they shouldn't do thus and so, then they begin to have an absence of energy and then the folks take them to the doctor to see what's wrong with them, ok?  Ok another question, comment, yes Debbie?

(It’s true isn’t it that when you’re in apathy that you’re trapped.  I mean it seems that way to me that you would attract……)

A person who is habitually in the condition of, say apathy will run into others that are mostly involved with a condition somewheres near that one, yes.  In other words, a person in fear would find somebody in vital interest a horrible bore; and a person in vital interest wouldn't want to be talking to the one in fear, so they really have nothing to discuss.

(It seems like my condition also correlates with….)

We said the whole conditioning, yeah - - everything in your condition - - what you experience basically will go with whatever your habitual spot on here is - - that’s about right.

(That's the line between destruction and non destruction - - it seems that one is generating energy and one is using it.)

Right, one's dissipating and one is generating it.

(It strikes me that above the line you got to pump - - prime the pump a little bit.)

Yes, the pump needs to be primed once in a while for the upper states.  It's very easy to fall into these lower ones.  It takes no effort at all.

(Is that the reason why we're not enthusiastic all the time?)

I would imagine that's one of the reasons.  It takes a little effort; and if there's anything we don't do it’s expend any effort. And it is responsible to do it.

(Much to my chagrin, I’m usually enthusiastic in the morning and not so much in the evening.)

Right.  And she goes the other way.

(Yeah.)

Well, get two houses.

(We don't want to complicate ....)

Well, I know, she can stay on the bottom floor and you can go to the top floor or something in there.  Leave Dave on the middle.

(Can there be a commodity or something that you could talk a bit about?)

Human energy is not a commodity you can buy and sell, but it's one which you can generate or pitch away.  And you can tell a person that's very energetic - - like your friends sitting here; and you can see some people which are very depleted of energy - - thank goodness none of those are here.  But you could find them around here, there and elsewhere, ok?  And they do have a tendency to sap your energy as you go by unless you're really generating it fast, is that right?  You've had some people you feel a little more exhausted after being with them for a few minutes - - even though they don't say anything or do anything, they just.....

(They’re the ones that exhaust you?)

Right. Right. Right. They're the ones that's so depleted they psst - - feel like a sponge.  But energy is another word for Life I suppose, Charles.  So the more energy you have, the more alive you are; and the more you're dissipating it, the less alive you are.  I believe that's somewheres close to correct.  I happen to like to be very much alive if at all possible, ok?  And it certainly is possible - - so I'll do it.  Ok?

Any other questions, comments?  Ok we'll call it a day.  We'll start at 10:00 in the morning.  I have enjoyed the afternoon, I hope you have.

Good morning.  Today we'll talk about what you're interested in, ok?  Betty is liable to be interested in mortuaries; and Melba's interested in building houses; and what are you interested in Marge?

(Everything.)

Everything!  So then we'll go the whole works.  So we're gonna talk about this morning on ending resistance.  Now in about everything we start to do is that we initiate something, which a lot of us don't initiate, we wait for it to happen.  But if we start to initiate something, generally the next thing comes along is some resistance.  So the second thing comes along is a resistance.  Now the resistance seems to be necessary for most everything including making wine, is that right Marilyn?

(Oh, you bet - - a lot.)

.......and movies and a whole bunch of other things we know about, it takes a little resistance.  Now when the resistance comes, then comes about a form.

A form is something we can visibly see and from the form comes a result.  Now it seems that these are always necessary for any ordinary situation except when we decide something else would be our purpose.   Now as long as my purpose is to compete or to create various and sundry things, there's always this resistance.  Now in the resistance most people get in some sort of a conflict about it.  Now they feel that there is something personal about it, but actually it really isn't anything personal interfering with it.  It's just the nature of events, is that right?

Marilyn has produced some wines that she calls and says that they have died, dead and gone, shot out and then they get a write up in the paper later as very dramatic wines and so forth.  So really all the resistance and the aggravation was unnecessary, is that right?

(Yes, lots of anxiety.)

Well, I know, so they died, they were resurrected after while.

(That's after talking to you.)

Well, it doesn't matter how, we're not talking about that - - they were resurrected, is that right and became dramatic and all kinds of other beautiful adjectives that people dig out, is that right?  And Chris has been making things and she couldn't finish it on deadlines; and other people brought their work in - - the titles were upside down, screwy and so they couldn't use the equipment so she got to use it.  It works all right, you know.

So we do not have to have this resistance.  Now the reason we don't have to have it, is we change our purpose a wee bit and possibly you don't change what you're doing at all, but you have a different viewpoint of it.

So sometime ago without having any other reason to do it other than it sounded like a good idea that day, I decided that I would make my purpose to be what, to me, is being a good guest - - now that was asking nobody else - - I'm not gonna ask somebody else how to be a good guest.

In other words, I feel that all of us here are guests of Life on this planet and that we can enjoy ourselves and have a pretty good time as long as I'm behaving as a guest - - now I'm going to decide what is, to me, a good guest.  You know, I'm not gonna ask you nor you, nor you, nor anybody else “What's a good guest?”  You know with most of us, the minute we decide on something, then we get lots of various opinions as to what we “should do” about it.  Well, now I'm the only one that's gonna decide what is being a good guest.

Now since I've started that, and that has been several years ago, I've had no resistance to doing it.  I think maybe the main reason is nobody knows what I'm doing.  But to me it's being a good guest.  One day that may be straightening out a batch of sick wine, another day it may be doing something else, but whatever it is, there's no resistance to it - - you have the resistance, I don't.  Ok?

(I’m lookin’ at that.)

Ok, let's think about it a little while.  So to be what, to me, is  being a good guest is to kinda take care of what ever comes along to do.  Now I don't know, so the idea to me of a good guest is to be considerate of all the other guests at the party.  To be harmless to the best of my ability; and I think I can do that fairly well.  - - harmless and to make some little contribution.  Now I don't want to make any big ones - - that would get me tired, so I just make little ones - - some little contribution to a life at the party or what's ever going on here.

Now there is absolutely no resistance when you set out to do that - - none, because nobody knows what you're doing so there is no resistance.  So you can initiate about anything or let somebody else initiate, it doesn't make any difference.  Somebody's got something they want done.  Then without the resistance in it, the form comes about very quickly; and the result is usually rather interesting.

Now there is no deadlines or anything - - the wine doesn't have to be over in the morning, does it?  It can sit there a few days while it gets well or resurrects or whatever the stuff does, is that right?  So there is no resistance whatsoever unless you could call timing a little resistance; but I don't even see that as a resistance.  Sometimes it takes a few hours for something to happen.  Sometimes it takes a few days.  Sometimes it only takes a few minutes - - right? - - according to what the requirement is - - it only takes a few minutes sometimes.  And sometimes it takes a few days, huh?  But nevertheless...

(We have a "sicky".)

Well, I know we still got one, he's still sick, but he's gonna get all right - - it's gettin' all right, he's gettin' better anyway, isn't it?

(Did I hear you say that you don't need any resistance to get form?)

No, in the form of serious creative activity, there's already some sort of a form around.  As long as there's already a form of some kind - - she has a jug of wine or batch of the stuff - - a tank, is that right?  It's already there, I don't have to bother with producing' that. Yeah?

(I’m definitely looking for the natural creative process, that is these things have to be done in order to have a form - - the plant the grapes and then ....)

All that, so that's the only resistance is time, I said.  The possible bit of time.  Now if we were all impatient to have something the next minute - - every time, ok - - then you have made a resistance because you were resisting time.  In other words, a growth process or whatever it is takes time.

(Let’s say well on the way to pick up the grapes, you got a flat tire and that's resistance to getting…..)

Well no, unless you’re all insistent on time.  See now the only thing is time.  So we make a tremendous resistance out of something that isn't a resistance.

(Oh I see.)

So it takes we'll say an hour to cook something.  Now would you call that a resistance or is that just you got an hour, what are you going to do then, you might as well let it boil or whatever it may be, is that right?

(Bob what about like the crops growing up and they need.........)

We said when we had a form ok, so we already got a form; and they're not fighting that, again it's time is the only thing - - it takes time for seed to grow into the plant, is that right?

So we have something called impatience - - I guess is the word that's most commonly used isn’t it?  - - we're very impatient, huh?  When we want something, we want it not when it gets ready, but right now, is that correct?  When you go to build a house, it takes a little bit of time, is that right?   Now if you're not fighting time, you have no resistance; but if your fighting time, which is something that I see no reason, it's gonna be there, so I can be a perfectly good guest and allow some time for any situation or any event, any circumstance to take place - - any growth.  Now would you say that we've been known to be a bit impatience Miss Marilyn?

(A little bit.)

And that is the only problem you have really, the rest of it's all taken care of itself very nicely isn't it?

(Yep.)

Yep.  So there's no resistance except you're impatience.

(I'm creating my own resistance.)

Right.  Now that's totally unnecessary to continually create a great big block in our way, make ourselves miserable because any ordinary process requires some time.

If you're gonna bake a cake, it takes a little time.  Now if you get the batter all mixed up and think, why can't I have the cake right now, you got a problem, huh?  Now is the problem for real - - is it really a resistance or is that Life.  It flows and everything requires an interval of time for something to be, is that right?  Huh?  So another word for time is distance.

So there is a distance between two points, point A and point B.  Now I wouldn't call time being a resistance.  I can't see that it is - - that's just part of the process that does; but we generally make ourselves tremendous difficulties by wanting no time for anything to happen, is that right?  Now I don't see time as a resistance.  I'd just as soon be here this morning as somewheres else, ok?  Yes dear?

(So the four forces are initiation, time, form result.)

That would be a much better word.  Now if I fight with time, I turn it into resistance and conflict and make a problem out of it.  But the only resistance that we could even remotely admit was it was a resistance is time.  So a person broke his leg.  It averaged taking about 4 weeks for it to be all well and ready to go again.  Now there's no resistance in that; but if the person were a bundle of impatience, it might take a lot longer because they jump up and start running on that leg tomorrow, next day, next day and it would be a mess; and then you would have created all kinds of conflict.  Now if we take the same situation here, we have initiative, and time.  Now sometimes that is very short, sometimes it is extensive, but who cares.  Then comes the form, and then comes the result.  Now if I want to go from here to here and miss those two steps, I have bothered myself a bit, is that right Miss Marilyn.

(Yep.)

And that's when you get yourself in a turmoil - - not recognizing that time which is another word for distance, I believe, is perfectly natural and it is not a problem, it is not a resistance really.  It is just that's what it takes to do.  There's a time element in building a house - - even though you went out and got all the materials; and got 'em all lying on site, huh?  And then all the men showed up to work as you wanted them to and did their thing - - it still takes a time for the house to be completed, right?  Now is that a problem?

(No.)

That's just as natural as digesting - - food takes a little time to digest - - takes a little time to eat.  It takes a little time to sit here.  It took a little time to get here from Washington, is that right?  It took a little time to get here from Hecker Pass, that right?  All of 'em take a few minutes time.  But time is not a problem; but generally speaking we make it into one because we have something in us that says it's got to be done now or what?  We are - - impatient, is that right?  Now what is impatience?  Come tell me about it now.

(Wanting to skip the middle two - - wanting to have initiative and result and skip resistance and form.)

Yeah, wanting to skip it out and make straight cause/effect out of the four things going on; and consequently when we are making anything important, we have anxiety and when we have anxiety, we stop everything from flowing, huh?  Have you ever noticed that Miss Marilyn?

(Course not.)

You've never noticed that impatience in you which makes anxiety and saying, "I can't stand to wait for things to grow."  If I stick a plant in the ground today, I should harvest grapes off of it mañana at the latest, is that right?  And preferably this afternoon, huh?

(I don't do that with the grapes.)

You let them grow - - just with the wine.  Squeeze the stuff, it should be ready to bottle in the morning - - perfect wine, huh?  But is there a time, a distance that it goes through certain processes in order to do that.  And when you decide to hurry up the process with some of your fancy machinations, you kill it.  That right?

(Right.)

Now that's like the person who has the incubator set and they're hatching chicken eggs.  It's like the person that has eggs hatching and they try to help the chickens out of the shells.  They only kill them, that's all.

(They do kill ‘em?)

It kills them, I know.  But if you let 'em alone....

(I'd try it.)

I know you would try it.  Get 'em out of there right now and not only that they should be at least be 3-pound fryers by mornin', you know.  Marilyn called me one day and says she wants to know how to quit having problems, so you don't mind if I work along with Marilyn a little bit because all the rest of you have the same problem a little bit, is that right?

(Yeah.  It’s all the same thing.)

So with all your little impatience along with everybody else to have things go from initiative to result immediately and say, “Hang these two steps up” and the only thing with resistance is this one - - time.  Now if we start fighting with it, we make a million things go haywire.  The chickens die.  The wine sours, and then all sorts of things has to be done, huh?

(Yeah.)

But if we only allow time - - which can be only a few minutes in some cases and it may be weeks in another case - - how long does it take to build a house basically, with everything going like you want it to?

(It takes four months.)

About four months, so that’s apretty good time to grow a house out of the ground, isn’t it? - - from a bare lot to a pretty house on it takes about four months.

How long does it take a grape to grow from the time it sits on the vine with a little flower-type thing until it’s ready to squeeze?

(I don’t know.)

It takes several months, ok?  It takes several months for it to grow and anything else we grow.  Now if we can look at just one thing - - that time, which is a natural requirement, is there and I’m not gonna fight with it - - you have ended about 90% or more of all the things that one gets anxious about.  Now anxiety, of course, is about the antithesis of what we were talking about yesterday - - a little bit of enthusiasm, huh?

A lady called me this morning early and she was very highly agitated because Friday is her birthday and she doesn’t have any arrangements made for it; and so she knows she’s going to be alone, miserable, and have a lousy day.  Now she knows Friday already.  Now she says, “I’m not impatient, Bob; but……………..  You know you cancel all that was said before the but; and then you listen after.  So she’s having the screaming meemies over Friday now.  Now that’s only four or five days away or something like that, huh?

But again, we want to eliminate that - - no such thing as time - - we got to have it all done right now, is that true in business or anything else.  We want it right now.  Now once we get that going, then we have anxiety.  And when you have anxiety, everything screws up, right?

(It does.)

That correct?

(Yep.)

It just goes Pluuup! - - like that.  Now then, somebody without anxiety better go to work on it or it’s gonna screw up but good - - permanently ok.  You’re gonna turn it into a bucket of worms.

Now all conflict basically comes from anxiety or comes from impatience.  All conflict basically comes from impatience.  And impatience makes a big bundle of anxiety; and anxiety screws up everything in our whole day’s existence, week’s existence.  So it screws up everything then, ok?

Now how does one find the way to be patient?  Marilyn?

(By just recognizing there’s a time element.)

That there is time required for everything and that the time is required before it’s gonna do, and it’s nothing personal;  and it’s really not a resistance, its part of the natural process.  But if we don’t want it there, then everything that happens becomes a resistance; and we do have lots of troubles with resistance, because resistance is conflict.  We said conflict, struggle or resistance is the only human problem, huh?  And it all comes from impatience, not because there is anything haywire about it.  You there?

(Sometimes there’s haywire?)

Yeah, after you get anxious, you create all sorts of things; but just simple time is not haywire.

(Sometimes it’s sick.)

Well, that’s all right, it gets well.  It takes a little time for a sick person to get well.  People call up and tell me they’re very ill, they have several fancy diagnosis and will you do something about it; and I say, “Well, I’ll put my head on it.”  And they call up the next morning and say, “I’m not any better.”

(I call you about the wine doing that - - it’s not any better.  (Laughter.)

It’s supposed to be done overnight, huh?

(Right.)

…at the latest, overnight!  It’d be better if you run back out to the shed and it was all alright right now, is that right?  But all it requires is a bit of time.

Now if you’re building a business or you are having any kind of relationship or anything - - everything requires a bit of time to perfect it - - it requires a bit of time to perfect it and the word perfect means complete as I’m gonna use it, so to get something to work in complete and have it all together requires a little bit of time.  Now is that a resistance or is that the nature of things Betty?

But we get all upset about the nature of things and we want it when?

(Now.)

NOW!  And it will be there, but now it is doing its thing, ok?  Now why should I interfere?  The chicken is hatching, but you don’t pull the shell off first in a big mad rush, is that correct?

So conflict or struggle or resistance - - call it anything you want to, they’re all the same thing - - is the only human problem.  That really is the human problem.  That’s it, right there.  So if we’re not resisting something - - not in conflict with it, not struggling with it which is the only thing you do - - then that’s the problem.  Yes?

(Sometimes when you’re heading in a particular direction and you decided you wanted to make a film or some wine…)

…..bottle of wine or whatever - - grow a row of corn.

(And a variety of things happen such that the result is very different.  When we do a film that happens quite frequently.  What you end up with looks a lot different than what you planned because various things have interfered or ……)

…..happened or maybe they didn’t interfere at all.  Maybe they made it better, who knows.

(Yeah, exactly.  So sometimes ….)

That’s not anything to be in a conflict about, is it - - or struggle with or resistance.

(No, no.  When you’re in that process, you think that you want to direct it a certain way and it’s not going that way because various elements are changing that direction…)

…time is putting new elements into it, isn’t that right?  So when you plant the seed, time puts new elements into it at first it comes up and makes a little sprout, and then it makes a little doodad and then it grows and finally it bears.  But it probably wasn’t exactly as you had in mind all the way, ok?

(But just because something isn’t the way you designed it to be, doesn’t mean that there’s a resistance …)

No, it means that it’s growing.  It means it’s growing.  In other words you see one time you were born as a little bambino - - Mama couldn’t have imagined what you were going to look like today - - no way.  You’ve had a few of ‘em around, could you imagine what they was gonna grow up into when they was little folks?

(Nope)

No way.  So time made changes; but if we’re not impatient to have my way right now - - in other words let nature take it’s course so to speak, let things grow and evolve, there is no resistance.  Now I think that we could all look at everything as a process.  Growing is a process, is that right - - whether it is a bottle of wine or a film or whether it’s an aerospace project or whether it is a business project or something else, it always flows and we really have no way of imagining.

Now the fact that we can make a plan that is absolute in our head.  We are assuming we can see the future, huh?  And that is one of those assumptions we really don’t know.  So when we initiate something we know the aim we’re going; but if we make a goal out of it for it to be exactly as we wanted, we have a million resistances, huh?

(Right.)

You have really no idea exactly how the wine is going to taste when you haul the grapes in and squeeze ‘em.  You know the variety and all that, but different years do different things and all that good stuff.

(Bob, now we talked about that.)

Yeah.

(And what I was looking at was getting the aim or the picture much clear of what I wanted.)

Well, get your aim, but don’t make nature fit it.  It’s liable that what you get comes out better most of the time, I’ve noticed.

(That’s true.)

Ok, shut up.

(No, no.  That’s where I thought I was off because it was like when I started, I didn’t know.  All right?  And the ones I just “whimed” Robert was like “Gee that would be nice.”  It was like a French bouquet - - it turned out like a French bouquet.)

Yeah, but then you started making it important to make it turn out that way; and you got all kinds of stuff on there because you got smart and thinking you knew.

(I know.  ‘Sigh’.)

In other words, what we’re talking about is that we plant something and allow time to take place and the result comes out fantastic down here ok?  Now the time has to be there.

(Yeah, but it’s also true that when you plant you do have an aim in what your planting.)

Absolutely an aim; but not a goal.  Now suppose that I went out and planted bell peppers.

(Ok.)

And I had a picture of a bell pepper in my mind - - every one of ‘em weighing exactly four ounces, 4 ½ inches high and none that had funny little noses on ‘em or anything else; but there’s some of ‘em got funny noses on ‘em and some of ‘em are small and some of ‘em are big and one now and then cracks open, right?

(Yeah.)

So I know the aim; but not the end product.  And the aim will get me awful close to it - - probably better than anything I would figure out if I had an exact picture of how it had to come out, do you see?

Now an aim is what we’re working for.  Let’s take somebody that starts designing a very sophisticated piece of equipment, ok?  Like Gary Demus says - - a widget that makes human pictures and everything without any pictures to start on.  He changed it a lot of times along the way because he had to ask the machine what you will do at a certain stage of time in it; and then we went with that.  Now he had his aim to begin with, but what he ended up with was much better than what he had in mind, ok?

(I have observed that one.)

Ok.  So can we allow that we are in a partnership with Life, X as we generally use the term.  I will determine the “what
and I’ll let it take care of the how to bring it into an even a more perfect “what”; and it will really work better than It’s got to do it “my way”!  Now it seems that it gets to a certain place there, and then you keep insisting that it’s got to be something else.

Sometimes you're building a house, you think of something in the middle of the way, do you not?

(Well what I've been finding is there's something that we have to start working around; and then the end product is something different like a terrific new loft area.)

Something that's different, right.  So it really comes out better if you'll let it evolve, right?  Now you allow the time, sure you come up with something and you see that you don't have that particular picture, but a new one comes in that you go around and you got something a lot prettier, right?

(It grows.)

Right.  It grows.  So everything that we do, shall we say, is organic which means it's alive in a form of a way because it is an extension of you or you.  When you make a movie, its an extension is something you had in your mind, it grows.  It's like a child; it won't grow exactly like you had in mind, ok?  It'll grow off a little different, but in all probability, the end product will be something more wonderful than you had in mind anyway - - very seldom would you have thought that your wine would be described as dramatic - - especially when it was ill - - when it was very sick.  You had another word in your head for it - - I had to talk awful hard to keep you from dumping it, right?  Now it's all coming along pretty good.  We still got one sickie?

(Um hum - - it's in there too.  It's got all the components....)

It's got to get over the flu.

(Yes.)

Ok, it will.  It'll get there all right.  It's got everything but a little odd smell on it yet.

(And the taste..)

And the taste, ok; well, we'll ............

(We'll call it nutty.)

Nutty taste, ok - - meaning not exactly like pecan.

Ok, now let's talk a few minutes about shall we call it impatience or shall we call it non-recognition of the one element that's involved in everything called “time” which is natural and is not a resistance in it's truest sense.  It's a natural component of growth or evolving or maturing or completion or whatever word you want to use.

(But you no longer call it the soil, the distance in ___)

Well, yeah, it probably is, but to you and I, it's only time.

(No it's not in my.......)

It's not in your world, it's not in your world, it's in the seed's world; and the seed needs it.  It’s a part of growth; and I would only see it as a time factor that I planted seed a certain day of the year and I had a general aim to harvest that kind of stuff so many months later.

Now all the things it goes through with , I'm not even sure that egg shell is a resistance to the chick.  It's only the time it takes to pick through it and get it kicked off.  We're the ones that makes it into a real resistance because we resist the process.  Now there is resistance that really counts to our existence is that we resist the processes taking a moment, is that right?  Or that the process of growth we resist.

We resist evolving in ourselves, huh?  Is that right?  In other words you and I have talked about things for several years to say the least - - now and then - - is that right?  But there's always you resist doing it - - not because it requires a time element, but I think, maybe, that's what we all resist is it will take me a few days to develop a new habit, is that right?  And so we resist doing or experimenting.  We think, if I can't do it by reading about it or hearing it and it's not here right now, then it must be impossible, is that right - - or it's difficult or it's hard.  We resist time continually.   That is our greatest resistance, is that right Miss Marilyn, ok?

Ok let's have comments and discussions and talks and so forth and so on.

(Whenever I don't think I have enough of something, I get into conflict.  If it's time, I don't think I have enough time.)

You have 100% like the rest of us.

(Right, but I'm still being unrealistic about what can be achieved in this period called time.)

Yeah.

(...so another way of saying is we're looking unrealistically.)

That would be exactly accurate - - that we look at it as being something I don't have rather than something that's already goin' on anyway.  Now we all have enough time.

(Well, when we look at the time differently, it changes completely.)

Oh yeah.

(Because there's someplace I've been twice that I was late each time - - takes 45 minutes to get there.  And so when I did this Saturday, I realized I was doing it again that I only had 25 minutes to go someplace that take 45.  So I thought, well, I'm not going to look at it that way at all.  I'm just going to be there.  And I got there in about 15 to 20 minutes; but I didn't look at my watch once.)

But if you'd been fightin' time, you'd a'been in a conflict, struggle or resistance with it, it would'da probably taken you 50, is that right?

(Right.  The first two times it did.)

It did, because you were in a struggle, conflict and resistance.  Again, we say that's the only human problem because it all means the same thing.

(By my attitude, the first two times, I was fighting the time.)

And this third time, what's the use to fighting it; and you just went along with it and you got there ahead of time, is that right?

(15 minutes ahead.)

Right, isn't that somethin'?

(Can we change the amount of time a process takes by our attitude?)

We sure can change how long it feels like it is anyway.  If you're a very happy individual, time goes zip, zip, zip, zip.  If you're bored or aggravated or annoyed, it never gets over with.

(But it really does get reflected Bob.)

Well sure, it gets affected on the watch, the speedometer on the car, everything else, yes.  It goes all over, yes.  Because when I am not anxious, things go smoother Charles.  But if I'm fightin' 'em, I feel in conflict with time or a struggle with it or I'm resisting it, I'm anxious; and when I'm anxious, everything takes a lot more time even to get the car down the street, is that right?  See anxiety is the sign that the problem came out - - that's the first sign of the problem is anxiety.  “It's” not a problem, conflict, struggle, resistance is the problem; and the “sign” of the problem is anxiety.  Have you ever had a little of that?

(Most the time.)

You enjoy that, huh?

(Nope, that's why I'm here.)

Ok, then we'll quit, is that right?

(Right.)

You will allow time for any process or any situation to take place whether it's build a business or whether it's to allow the wine to go through all the processes it goes through or a cake to bake or whatever - - kids to grow up, so on, huh?

(I'm in a hurry.)

You're in a hurry, aren't you?

(Oh yeah.)

For what?  What are you trying to get to? - - a cemetery somewheres?  The only person here that would like for you to do that is Betty over here.  She likes everybody to hurry up and get there since she’s in the business.

(Only if you're going to go anyway.)

Right.  So when you get ready to hurry, go over to her village and stay there a while.  I'll stay away from there.

(When I catering, time was always a problem to me because.....)

Naturally, you wanted the minute you got the order, you wanted to have it all ready to set on the table.

(It wasn’t that, it was that so many things couldn’t be done until the last minute and there was only a limited amount of time to do a lot of things….)

That's what you said.

(There was a deadline, I couldn't wait because there was gonna be a hundred people come for lunch.)

Well, a hundred people, you feed 'em.

(Yeah, but you have to have the food ready.)

Well, that's easy.

(It wasn't.)

Well, I know, the way you do it, I know it wasn't easy; but I know that it is easy.

(Well, how could that be?)

Well, I've cooked for a hundred people and far more.  In fact I've pulled one off for over 3,000 one day and it all got done at the right time.

(I suspect you allow a certain amount of time to do that.  You didn't try to...........)

Yeah, I allowed all night.  That's what I worked - - all night.  I figured that's what it would take, so I went to work at 5:00 in the afternoon and finished it up and 7:30 the next morning.  It's all ready.  I figured that'd be about the right time to do that.  I know about how long it takes the thing.  Yes, Joy?

(Do you have a suggestions for example, when we find we’re “grrr”, by that time we're anxious.  Do you have any suggestions as to how we get rid of it?)

Yeah.

(It snuck up on us.)

Yeah, you're already anxious.  Without paying attention, you got all anxious.  Now how do you get over the anxiety?

(Right, how do you get rid of it?)

Well, I'll tell you.  You call up somebody you know fairly well, or go around somebody you know and say, "Now watch a very anxious person perform."  And you do it for about 2 minutes and you'll start laughin' at yourself and it's over with.

(Give yourself five minutes to remain in it?)

Oh yeah, I'm perfectly free to really be anxious for the next three minutes - - just really work it up and get with it, but I like to call up somebody that I know and say, "Now this is how a anxious person performs - - you want to get a good lesson."  and then you do it.  In other words, you're not fighting anything else again, Joy.

(I got'cha.)

We're free to experience it, just like we're free to experience the time process.  Now when we get caught in it, if we should; we're perfectly free to be anxious a few minutes.  Now basically, what we want is we're very impatient to get over being impatient, is that right?  That is the ultimate conflict; see is that we're impatient to get over impatience.

(Right.)

What was it the man said?  "I pray thee O Lord teach me patience and do it now, damn it!"  Right now, let's don't fiddle around about it.

(You said that thing in the office.)

Yeah - - do it now.  Let's don't fiddle around about it.

(I want it now.)

I want patience and I want it right now!  Let's don't fiddle around about it, ok?  Ok, next question, comment?  Yes Beth?

(Do you think you get stronger resistance when you make something important?)

Oh you get 100% resistance that moment - - the minute you make it important that there be no time involved; and that's the only thing you make important about it.  Then there's 100% resistance immediately and that really is resistance, but it's all “self made” from anxiety that we made because we were in conflict, struggle, and resistance.  We built it, and made a problem; and the first sign of it is intense anxiety; and everything we do when we're anxious works lousy.  You know if you try to do something when you’re anxious, it all balls up, is that right?

(Yep.)

If you try to make wine when you’re anxious, that wine is all screwed up.

(Right.)

Right?  And, you know, if you try to make money when you’re anxious, it screws up too.  Huh?

(Don't have any.)

That's for sure, isn't it Joy; when you try to make money - - the only time you make money is when your perfectly free to play around.

(And you don't give a damn.)

Right?  In fact if you really wish it'd quit comin' in, it piles on you.

(I don't know anything about that.)

You never tried that one.  That is a fact - - that if you really are trying to make money, it becomes almost impossible.  There's a leak runs in every direction.  When you're doin' it for fun, Miss Pat, what happens - - it accumulates right quick.  That happens when you're doing it simply because you're having fun doing something.  So would you go back up on Hecker Pass Hill and just have fun making wine and let the chips fall where they will.  Let nature take its course, ok?  You'll have fantastic, dramatic, brilliant; and all these other fancy terms that wine connoisseurs use which I never know.  You know all that lingo?  How to describe all tastes of it and what do you describe what you tasted.

(I like it or I don't like it.)

Ok, that's as far as I can get with it.  But Marilyn has her clan - - they got some fancy words .

(Not true Robert, now you're off on that.)

What?

(Because most of the people that come to the winery don't know a lot about wine.)

That's right.  I'm talking about you and your clan.

(No, no.)

You use these words like a young filly in the field.

(Aw it’s not that, it’s a good line.)

Well, I know it's a good line; but you know.

(They even see it.)

Why sure they see a horse out there.  It's like “roses that have only come on the first cutting” and all this kind of stuff.

(There is one like that.)

You don't know all that lingo.  Now if you really want to impress people, let her give you some vocabulary about how to describe the taste of a wine.Ok next question comment, point?

(Is the idea then that something you report to X that all that lacks with having it is time?)

That is exactly correct, and you get all impatient for it to get on the ball and how to do it, then it seems to say back to you - - if you know how to get it in such a hurry, you go do it.  So when you report something, the only thing that stands there is the time it takes X to actualize it, ok - - which is a growth process or whatever. and that does take time.  And even X is not gonna speed that up for you; but we're very impatient about it doin' it.

So I'm saying that impatience is how we get in conflict, struggle and resistance.  Without impatience, we wouldn't be in that; and everything we’re working on would flow freely.  Now you have reported lots of things, right?  And you have felt that most of them didn't happen, so it must have been you reported improperly, is that correct?  And that's the error I'm trying to correct this morning.  You reported fine - - everything was going fine - - but you got impatient "why isn't it here right now" huh?

(That did start me to wrestle with it.)

And then you start monkeying with it and X says, "Hang it up”, you do it your way.  X says, "You handle it" and so you get in a conflict, struggle, and resistance - - first you're impatient, then you wind up with anxiety; and so you get nothing.  Somewheres there's a book that says the double minded man need expect nothing from Life except the hassles he gets, ok?  The double minded one is the one that ignores the fact that everything takes a process to get it completed, Huh?

(You report first one way and then another and.........)

And then no telling what's going on because you're fighting yourself - - a little not i comes and says, "Well, if it didn't produce it in 10 minutes, it must have been you reported inaccurately", so then you begin to fiddle with your reporting; and you you're reporting a chaos of things instead of one thing.  If you report one thing and go on, just forget it - - it'll take care of itself.  You don't bother with it any more, you just said that's the way it is - - like you said when you didn't know how, you said, "Well I'm gonna make a wine with a French bouquet, huh? - - went on about your business; and that's what you got.  But then you began to set all kinds of little details into it; and then you said, "Well, I don't know, did I report accurately - - I better do it again."  Then you make the stuff sick.  Ok?

(Ok.)

Ok, any other questions, comments, whathaveyou?  Yes Miss Joy?

(Yesterday you talked about people say, this is what I really want - - then you watch them walk away from it.)

Yeah, real quick like.

(Is it because....)

They're impatient.

(They want something...........)

For a few minutes anyway; but if I can't have it in a few minutes, then I'll try something else, right?

(It's important..........)

It’s gotta be “right now”.  So that’s about anything.  So they say, "I want this; but if it doesn't materialize in 10 seconds - - Ahh, I want something else now.   Watch a two-year-old.

(What about if we don't do that?   We say this is what I want.)

And just leave it alone and........

(So we think we're doing it?)

Then go right on and keep on doing it - - this is what I wanna do.  You're not anxious for it to happen instantaneously.  In other words the impatience is gone, it's gonna take a little process.  I don't know how long the process will take.  But I know that it would take a little bit of time for anything to evolve to completion.

(I can see it, Robert, in little things - - little things like - - you know the other day I said I'd like a pair of white work pants that had little pockets that you can put your trowel and little tools like that.)

Yeah, lots of loops on it - - tool belt - - built in tool belt.

(And I was in a store in Nebraska; and there it was on sale and I walked up and said there’s the white pants, the ones I was looking for; and they were the right size…..)

Well, now it took a time from the time you conceived of the pants with the tool belt on them until you got to Nebraska and found 'em, is that right?

(Right.)

But you weren't making that all important.

(I didn't care.)

Now put everything that way.

(One other thing, Robert - - Now I set up a whole bunch of things to do, ok - - to bring to completion, all right?  Now, we said we were gonna plant a vineyard.  We’ve dropped the form...)

Um hum.....

(All right.  Now it's like I always think I have to have something I’m doing - - I've gotta keep busy.  Is that just impatience.)

Well, naturally, you got to make things happen right now.  That's why you're so durn busy.

(Ok, It's like I go home and if there's nothing to do; I say, "What am I gonna do, I gotta do something.”)

You feel terribly guilty that you're not seeing something to do.

(Is that it?)

Oh yeah.  Here I've got all this money invested in here; and here I am sittin' here like a queen looking out the window at the gorgeous view; and I should be doin' something.  So you get impatient to do something.

(Ok. I'm gonna look at it from every angle - - cause I............)

That's right.

(All right now - - I go to Nebraska.  I have a good time.)

Because there's nothing there you're supposed to be doing.

(Right.)

Except being a princess and a lady............

(..........and having a good time.)

You're just there as a guest.  Why not be a guest everywhere.

(I don't think I'm supposed to Robert, It’s when I............)

Now we heard it.  That's what I should do, ought to do, must do and supposed to do.  Now we heard it.

(All right.)

In other words you're not supposed to be peaceful when you're home.  You're supposed to be a bundle of anxiety to show that you're really sincere about this thing. When you go to the store, you was a guest there, is that right?

(It has to do with - - ok now - - it's like last week I went to the beach, all right?)

Really goofed off and went to the beach.

(Went to the beach.  And then I actually took an afternoon and Shelly and I went shopping.)

Uh huh.

(Now here comes my not i's - - we start walking home and he [the not it] says, "What'd you do this week."  And I said, "Well, I worked really hard - - I got up every morning about 6.)

And he [the not it] said,  “What about those days you went to the beach.”

(Oh man - - you know, “how come you’re out goofin’ off”.)

And you can't lie to him because he went with you.  And then you felt all torn up - - no, the not i went with you.  It went so it knows everything you did; and so it's gonna tell you about it.  It's gonna tell you about it because it went along.  It went there with you, so there's no use lying to it, so you might as well say, "Well, I goofed off."  Why do you have to account to a not i?

(Then it said, "Why do I have to account to you.")

Well, you don't.  Ignore all of them.  You know you're not obligated to answer every question that anybody asks you.

(Oh, this one has so many questions.....)

He's always questioning you.

(Ahhh - - to the point… - she screams.)

So you explain it.  You got to explain everything.  So ignore it.  You don’t answer it; you just act like it didn't exist.  You're under no obligation to answer every question that arises in your head.  You're under no obligation to do so.

(The same thing that's doin' that?)

Same one.  It said, "What'd you do all week?  You said,
Well, I got up every mornin' and went to work.  It said, "What about the day you went to the beach."  You said, "Oh I forgot about that."  It said, "What about the time you just took Shelly and went off goofin' around shoppin"  You said, "Oh."

Now you’re supposed to feel guilty.  Now you sit down there and be miserable for a while.  Who wants to pay attention to that noise?  That's what we're gonna talk about later ok?  We're gonna talk about how they get you in a corner.

(Well, Robert, it's all there.  Everyone who comes in to the vineyard says, "This is absolutely heaven here.")

Right there.

(And I say, “Oh no, I gotta get workin'".)

I've got to pay for this heaven in some way or other.

(I know it.  I just can't............)

She went around here for years wantin' the place, is that right?  And you got it - the utter epitome with no real effort on your part, is that right?  It just fell out........

(There was a lot of conflict.)

Well, I know.  But there wasn't anything that really went bad about it and here all of a sudden you had this beautiful place.

(That's not true Robert, there was a lot of crap that went on - - I mean a lot.)

Well, I know since you got there, but before gettin' there I'm talking about.  It just kinda fell in.

(Oh, the whole thing fell in, but I had a lot of conflict the whole time.)

Well, I know you been making an issue out of it since you got it.  You don't feel entitled to it.

(I don't.)

Right.  Now then, that's you're whole thing.  You came around and said that's what you wanted - - you remember, you laid it out, huh?  And you got it; and the minute you got it, some little not i come runnin' up and said, "You're not entitled to it."  And you been jitterin' yourself ever since, is that right?  Now if it had been a been a shack on a hill and a run-down place, you might have felt entitled to it, but this layout, you couldn't even enjoy because you believe that not I that says  - - "I'm not entitled to it."

(Well, I'm not.)

Well, give it to me then, I'm entitled to it.

(No way.)

I'll take it.

(Robert, I've tried to work hard enough to be entitled.)

Well, you'll never do that according to the not i, no matter what you do.  So just accept it as a gift.  They tell me the greatest giving in the world is to receive graciously because it gives something a very good feeling.  So will you put that in your head and boil it a while.  The greatest giving in the world is the ability to receive graciously, ok?  Now you've received, can you do it graciously? Ok.  Turn off the water works.

Ok let's take about a 15 minute break.

So we will start off and this time and I will talk about how the not i's conquer everybody.  You know they're very good at their business.  I admire them and respect them 'cause they're very good at their business.

One time I was selling things and I was working in a big hotel and we had parties; and a man bought something one night and he came back the next day and wanted his money back.  He said I really didn't want that; but he said you're very good at your job; and that's not a compliment.

So when I say the not i's are very good at their job, it's not a compliment; but they are good at their job.  So not i's which is all these little thoughts that run through people's heads that we all treat as though they were psychics  or fortune tellers.  Now I think we'll just call them “fortune tellers” here because they tell you they know everything that's going to happen in the future; and they always have it as being very lousy.  Did you ever notice that?  Huh?  Now they wait until the appropriate moment, Marilyn, to work on you.  They preferably find you tired.

(Right.)

Or they find you a little sleepy or they find you very busy where you are not watchin' things too close; and then they come in with their little suggestion like “you are not entitled to this”.  And of course, if you're not paying attention, you listen.  Now there's two things they always  talk about - - everything they say is derogatory about you, another or circumstances.  Now that's easy to remember.  That's one point.  Two is, they always lie.

                                          ****
[not I’s always say something derogatory about you, another or circumstances.
Not I’s always lie]

So now if you was around someone who never said anything except something derogatory about you or another and that everything they said was a lie, would you pay very much attention to 'em?

(I would.)

You would.  You’d listen to them day and night.  You do it all the time.  How about you Melba?  Now you know that they never tell the truth - - in other words they're always trying to kid you - - lie to you; and they always tell you something derogatory about you or somebody else or about circumstances.  Would you buy it?

(Just at times.)

You did; and we're not going to say how many percentages of time, is that correct?  We don't want to talk about that.  Would you do that?  If somebody you knew was always fibbin' to you and always told you something derogatory......

(I have.)

You have.  Now we'll change it a little bit here.  Yes, we all have.  We'll change it a little bit.  If you had yourself your favorite psychic or fortune teller, huh, and you went to them and the only thing they ever told you was derogatory things and they always lied - - none of it worked out, how long would you keep supporting 'em.  Now let's try that one on for size.

Now most of us at one time or another consorted with a psychic, is that right?  We've asked questions and we have paid attention to them because we wanted to know the future and what was gonna happen.  Have you ever been to one?

(Oh yes.)

(Don't they sometimes tell people things that they think they would like to hear; and then that paralyzes them?)

That is the living walking fortune teller, but we got the ones that's inside our heads; and they don't even bother to give you the good news once in a while.  You see, most of the ones you pay money to do tell you a few good things, but I said suppose you went to one and every time you went, they told you something derogatory about you and other people and the circumstances and it always proved to be a lie; would you keep going and buying their services?  Would you do that?

(No indeed.)

All right, now we all have some first class ones inside.  There is a whole slew of 'em.

(They're not actually inside....)

Well, their somewheres runnin' around.  They always seem to talk inside your head, don't they?  Ok?  So they got a pipeline.  They appear to have a pipeline inside your head so that they can tell you all sorts of derogatory, horrible things about you or another or circumstances.  Now sometimes it's very subtle.  They don't get real carried away with it until after they got you really listening.

So they start with little things that tells you that something's not gonna work.  Somebody around you is very lousy.  All these different things, is that right?  Now this is their “operation control”.  Then they take charge of criticizing everybody and everything around.  Their whole idea is to make you feel miserable because misery is the not I’s food to keep them getting stronger and stronger over the years.  Their food is human misery.  That's what they live on.  If they can make you get anxious.  They start on you early in morning when you first get up and you look out your window and say, "I'm not entitled to all this."  You know, that's what one of 'em' is saying.  "You're not entitled to this Marilyn."  So then you can feel miserable and they have a nice breakfast - - you know - - not just continental.

(I don’t have breakfast.)

Well, I know - - they do though.  You don't, but they do 'cause you're not entitled to have it.  But they have a half a grapefruit and a couple of poached eggs and two English muffins and some orange marmalade and four or five cups of coffee at your expense, ok?

(Ok.)

And then they let you alone - - they get you on the ball and get you to workin' and bein' miserable, ok.

Somewheres along about 10:00, they would like a little snack so they slip one at you, you know.  “This won’t work.”  Or “So and so is gonna come in and that’ll make things bad” or “the kids are in trouble” whatever they’ve figured out that you’ll believe, ok.

And so they get their midmorning snack.  And then about lunchtime, they come in with a goodie; and they get a very nice lunch - - three, four o’clock in the afternoon, they have tea.  And at six, seven o’clock in the evening they have dinner - - full tilt - - everything - - steak, potatoes, salad, three or four vegetables, all kinds of fancy sauces - - at your expense.  All lies that you listen too and believe.

And then they settle down to an evening of beer drinkin’.  They just keep buggin’ you with little things and they spend the evening telling dirty stories and drinkin’ booze at your expense.  Now this is the way they live off of us.

Now we can stop that any day.  Now you “cannot control them” to keep them from tellin’ you their lies.  That you can’t do because “they’re not you”; therefore you have no control over ‘em, ok?  They’re not really you, so you have no control over ‘em to make them go away.

I talk to people all the time - - the phone rings and they say - - their not I’s are doin’ this - - what can I do to stop them?  Nothing.  You can’t see ‘em to shoot ‘em. Huh?  You can’t see them to hit ‘em on the head with a stick; and I don’t think it’d hurt ‘em anyway.  But you can ignore them.

Now if you had this theoretical fortune teller we was talking about a while ago - - you know, the psychic who always told you derogatory things about you and others and circumstances; and everything they’d ever told you so far had proven to be a lie, you wouldn’t spend money goin’ to it, is that right - - huh?

(Right.)

Ok, now this is what we got.  So we don’t pay any attention to them, ok?  Now if you hear something derogatory about you or another or about circumstance, you ignore it.  You put no value on it.

Now if you don’t put value on something, it’s not yours - - we can’t keep all kinds of suggestion coming in from newspapers, radio, and television if we happen to turn any of it on, is that right?

(Right.)

But it’s only that which you pay attention to  has any affect on you, huh?

(Ok.)

Is that right?

(Right.)

So you can have no control over all this stuff that runs through your head that’s derogatory about you or another or about circumstances, huh?

(Right.)

You can’t control it to make it stop - - you have no ability to do that because they are at this stage, independent of you whether they’re inside our heads or outside.  I know we can hear ‘em inside the head and it sounds so reasonable when it’s inside the head; but if we verbalize it, it doesn’t sound so reasonable.  Did you ever try that - - just talkin’ it out loud - - saying out loud everything they said?

(I haven’t tried that.)

Well you do that; and you will see how funny it is.  Now as long as it’s inside your head and you haven’t verbalized it, thoughts sound so reasonable - - that’s like an idea you get that you can make millions doin’ so and so.  You know?  It sounds so perfect as long as it’s runnin’ around in there; but you start verbalizing it, you see holes in it all over the place.

So if you would just verbalize what they’re saying - - even in a room by yourself.  You say out loud everything the not I’s are sayin’; then you would see what holes it’s got in it.  That would help a little bit, ok?

The next thing you do is ignore them.  Now they get very insistent - - I’m well aware of this.  They scream at you - - you’re in great danger.  They pretend to be your guardian angel; and they’re gonna protect you from all this or prepare you for this impending doom.  If you don’t buy it that they’re gonna protect you from it, then they try to get you by telling you they’re gonna prepare you for it, huh?

So we listen to them and get panicky or nervous or agitated or anxious or whatever because we listen to them.  Now they have conquered you.  You might say they have taken over your mental faculties and are now are operating it.  They’ve taken away all your common sense and everything.
Now they’re operating with all this jazz - - this weird stuff they’re givin’ you.

Now if everybody here went and rattled off some of the things they’ve heard run through their heads - - even just  today, huh?  What have you heard most wildly Miss Ruth.  They do a good number on you?

(Well, just what I talked to you about.  I think those were not I’s.)

Why sure it was, 100% kickin’ away tryin’ to make you feel a little anxious.  It says, here you are off out in Newport Beach and you ought to be somewheres else takin’ care of things.

(No, it doesn’t say that.)

What did it say today?

(Well just about wanting things like I said.)

It says you want this, but you really couldn’t stay with it long enough to go ahead and get it.

(Well which one is the not i?)

The not I is the one that says you want it; but you won’t get it.  It always puts the “but” in the line, ok?

(The not I is the whole thing.)

Why sure, the whole bit.  So if you really wanted something, you’d go get it, wouldn’t you?  If you really wanted something, you wouldn’t put the “but” in there - - it always puts the “but”.  So you see they take charge of the human mind; and they wait for the appropriate moment.  If you’re really feeling fine and goin’ on, they wait until you’re very tired or you’re very sleepy or you’re just a little bit not feeling the best - - then they go to work on you.

(Like you’re anxious about something else.)

Well, yeah, they’ll use that one; but they already got you then.  So they got you anxious about one thing and then they’ll just multiply it.  They want to keep total control over you.  The way they do it is to keep adding on and adding on.  So if they can get you nervous or anxious about one thing, then they will build on the anxiety.

So they start off with things like, “you are being mistreated”.  “Nobody appreciates you”.  “You shouldn’t have this to contend with”.  “You’re not entitled to it”.  “You’re gettin’ old”, and “you’re doin’ this; and you are probably gonna have a heart attack”.  And “what if you get cancer - - you’re the right age now”.  You name it, they can go with it, is that right?  Now I don’t have to go through a hundred and one different things they say.  What do they work on you most Marilyn?

(Right now?)

What’s the heavy one?

(The heavy one right now.  I’m so neat and how come I got a bunch of crud around me.)

Right.  If you’re such a hot shot wonderful person like everybody tells you then how come you got all this junk around you, huh?

(Yeah.)

Right.  ‘Course if you really look, I don’t know whether it’s junk or not - - you see, they’re derogatory about everything so they say it’s junk.  So they don’t say, “Look, you’re living in a fantastic home - - you got a fantastic view.” - - “you’re getting national recognition as a winemaker”, not a one of those not I’s come up and say that, do they?  Now “if you’re such a neat person, it’s proven”……..

(No, no, they did say that, then they went over…..)

But then they said, “But, you’ve got this little fly in the ointment.”

(Yeah - - what about that fly there - - why….)

…. Why did a fly even come in there?  Well, flies are intelligent, they go where there’s pretty stuff, you know, they’re smart.  Not I’s - - but you see the not I’s says, “All right you got it made - - BUT” - - that cancelled you got it made; and then they talked about the fly, is that right?

(Right and that starts workin’ on me.)

And you’re buying it?

(Yep.)

Well, let’s quit buying it, ok?

(That’s what I’m here to do.)

That’s what you’re here to do.  Ok, we’re not buying that.

(Ok.)

You are the luckiest lady in Northern California.

(It’s true.)

That’s right.  Ok, let’s hang in there now.

(Take it with the fly.)

Even with the fly, you’re still the luckiest lady in northern California, huh?  Because you know how long it takes to get a fly out of the cold face cream?

(No.)

The fly’s out just like that.  Got a fly in your face cream, how long would you leave it in there Joy?

(I don’t put cream on.)

See they told me there wasn’t any harm to find a worm in your apple - - you only felt bad when you found a half a worm in your apple - - so you got the whole fly out there.  So you’re doin’ all right so far, ok?  Huh?

(Ok.)

You’re doin’ all right.  So when you look to see all the ointment that you have around - - what kind of fly is it - - how long does it take to get the fly out?  About that long, ok?  Besides the fly isn’t in the ointment all the time.

(That’s true.)

So most the time you can just use it without having the fly in it, is that right?  But you see they want to ruin everything because of one little insignificant nothing, is that right?  - - totally insignificant nothing.

(Well but that fly has such tremendous affect at times.)

Well, that’s what you do.  You know one fly don’t bother you if you just don’t make an issue out of it.  If you make it important, why then it gets very big, right?  So the not I’s major occupation is to tell you that various and sundry insignificant things “which will pass away before long anyway” are very very very important and very very very permanent.  Now is that the story they sell you?

(That’s because they are affecting things today that - - well it’s like you’ve got this plant that’s growing and a dog keeps coming and peeing on it.)

Well, ok.

(And that burns the leaves.  And I don’t like to have any ….)

So pretty soon the dog will go away anyway.

(Well, that gets back to the time element.)

There you are.  You see you’re all back…..so there’s one thing - - this too will pass away.

(The not I then says, “No one will believe that.”)

Right, and so if you try….

(Then I’m back to the basic premise of terror.)

Right back into terror, what can I do if I don’t have the fly, something terrible will happen.  If I have the fly, so you’re in a rough spot all the way around, is that right?

(That’s right.)

But obviously to look at you, you’re not in a rough spot.  Does anybody think that she looks like she’s in some terrible state of affairs?  Do you think so?    I’ll bet you anybody would go home with you and change places with you - - trade off almost immediately, huh?

(That’s true.)

But you see how not I’s take all sorts of things and conquer us so that we’re anxious.  Now the only reason they do this - - it’s just their food.  Now do you want to feed your enemy?  It’s the only enemy you have.  Do you want to feed not I’s and house them?

(I guess not.)

You guess not?  Some people wouldn’t make a flat statement no matter what happened, huh?   You want to feed ‘em.

(Nope.)

Quit.  Now it’s all that simple.  Now yesterday we talked about you could have any inner state you wanted if you acted like you already had it.  So if you act like you are what you said - - the luckiest lady in northern California - - all the time - - whether the flies in the ointment or the flies out of the ointment, huh.

(Oh yeah.)

You will feel fantastic.

(I just wanted to feel….)

At least you got 50%, is that right?  So it really doesn’t cause any difficulty.  You might as well feel wonderful while things are around, as you do when they’re not around, is that  right.  There’s nothing wrong with feeling wonderful Marilyn.

(I do quite a bit of the time Robert.)

Yes I’m aware of that except when you’re in utter terror.  But now I wanted to ask, is there anybody that feels there is something wrong with really feeling wonderful at all times?  Do you?

(No.)

Are you sure?

(Yes, I’m pretty sure.  I’m not saying that I always feel wonderful, but I don’t think there’s anything wrong in it.)

You don’t think so.  I’ve met a lot of people that felt if they really admitted to themselves that everything is wonderful that something terrible would happen.  (Laughter)

(I don’t feel that.)

Did you hear what you said, Joy?

(Well, I feel like I really don’t deserve to feel wonderful.)

Why don't you and Marilyn get together?

(I was actually taught that as a kid.)

Yeh, I know and that's what you're still livin' by!

(Yeah, it was....I can easily remember ____ don't be too popular; don't have too many friends.  In fact I got it last week.  Now Marilyn, look at you now - - the children, I'm gonna have to raise them.)

Ok, you buy it?

(I did a little bit - - I did.)

Enough to get you kind of tangled up a little bit.

(It's just for a little while.)

But you see, not i's also come out of other people's mouths as well as outside of your head, is that right?  They come from over there and over there.  So now then you're gonna keep watch so you have one thing - - pay attention that you don't buy these pseudo, psychic’s, fortune teller’s progastinations for you, ok?

(To illustrate that, yesterday when we were talking about one of the wives and I described her as a Spanish dancer with big hips and big bust; and one of the gentlemen said "Look at her lips, they're outlined."  And I went, let me see, so I took a sip of the wine and I saw that that suggestion had already come in.  And he said "What are you doing?", and I said, "I'm having to look past the suggestion you just gave me.")

To go on further and see what her ears look like.  What kind of earrings did she have on?

(Flamenco--nice lady.)

Ok - - nice deal.  Yes Joy.

(It helps sometimes is to see where the authorities come from?)

It is almost of no value, but if it aids you, go ahead.

(I thought it was of value.)

No, because they're gonna be there anyway and, you probably accepted many,  so you could spend many years diggin' back to say this and that happened, but they still go on and talk - - they don't care.  The point is that you recognize them and say, "I'm a'going to ignore you."

(Whoever you are and wherever you came.)

I don't care where you came from.  I don't care whether I got you first from my mother or from the lady down the street or from a peer kid that I was playin' with that got it from his mother.

(He got it from somebody else.)

He got it from somebody else's mother - - its all second-handed anyway, ok?  So it doesn't matter.  The point is that I recognize their nature.  They have a very simple nature that “always lie” and they “always say something derogatory about you or another or circumstance”, ok?  So ignore all that stuff and then they don't get through to you.  Now they try.  They work.  They may keep you up all night kickin' away at you; and if they can't get you to listen one way, they might kick you in the solar plexus and make you have a belly ache for a while to see if they can get you down a little bit and then they'll lay one on you.  Have you ever had 'em kinda kick you somewheres so that you felt a little physically rough and then they get to you a little bit because our resistance to listen to 'em is down a bit.

(If you're a night person they hit you first thing in the morning.)

Right.  And if you're a day person they hit you first thing in the morning and the last thing at night.  And if you like to sleep at night, they hit you the last thing at night so they can keep you awake.  As the lady was telling me one time - - she'd gotten fired through the day and she had not let 'em pick on her and tell her how lousy she was and what a failure she was and so forth.  And just as she was droppin' off to sleep, she heard one say to the other, "She's going to sleep, now we can go to work on her."  And they did.  Now they really do act this way.  It's why in lots of literature there's stories about demons and imps and all these things.  They really are not any of those.  They're not entities, but they act like an entity; and they have only one purpose in mind - - to make you miserable.

Now when I have that around, I think I would bow my neck enough to say you're not gonna do it.  If I found out your sole purpose was to make me feel miserable, I'm gonna cut you out....period.  You not gonna get to play that game on me.

How about that Phil?  If you knew somebody’s sole purpose in their existence was to make you feel miserable, you certainly wouldn't allow them to do it , would you?  Now we have that situation.  Now they may not get to you for three years if everything's going along pretty lovely to suit you, but if they catch just a rough spot some day, they are waiting.  Now they have patience.  They can wait because they say, “We’re gonna get her sooner or later”, ok?  Now you may go along for years and not really hear any of all that stuff - - conflict and stuff - - but one day they are sitting waiting and something will happen, they get through to you, ok?  Now how about startin' today that you will not accept as being true, anything that gets in your head that is derogatory about you or another or about circumstances.

(I'll go with number one and number two; I'm having trouble with number 3.)

Well, let's start not listening to that one either - - circumstances.  There's nothing derogatory about you or another or about circumstances.  Because as long as you allow circumstances to be blamed, there's nothing you can do - - you get paralyzed in that department.

You see there's a bar against doing anything about anything if we have thought up something to blame for it.  So if you still say circumstances has some blame - - in other words, that's what they're saying - - that's what they're giving you - - and if you buy that, then there's nothing that you can do about it, you're hung up.  But you can say - - "there's nothing to blame."  “I can do something about anything that occurs”, ok?  And that includes circumstances or other people or yourself, ok?

So there's nothing nor nobody to blame....period.  Ok that's where you have to start.  Wanna start there?

(Ok.)

And so you don't listen to anything that offers derogatory ideas about you or another or about circumstances, ok?  Got that?  And you're not buying it as being true.  Yes Norma?

(I don't understand.  How can they wait for three years.)

Well, they're just goin' along with you everywhere's. They're assigned to your case, so they just wait until something happens - - you get tired and so they begin to talk at you.  Say you're feeling fine and everything's goin' along all right, you know, the kids are behaving and everything's goin' along smoothly; but they wait will some day - - whether you're sick or whether one of the kids is out late at night and you don't know where it was or when it will be home, and then they got you a little agitated - - then they go to work on you.  They can wait for years, honey.  They just store it in there. They are recordings, no doubt, in our brains and they're triggered off to act independently anymore; and they're just stored there and they'll wait.  So you'll never be entirely free of 'em, but you can be where you're free to hear them rattle and put no value on what they have to say, ok?  So you always remember one thing.  They say something derogatory about you or another or circumstances and they always lie, ok?  Quite a good thing to know.

(Well you were saying a little while ago that they thrive on human misery and you feed them and so forth.  Now they're there for three years and they don't pop up.  They must be getting pretty hungry?)

They are, and they sure awaken.

(Are they getting kind of weak as well?)

Yeah, they sound a little weak to start with; but let 'em have one good dinner and they're recuperated, ok.  Yeah, they get a little weak.  In other words, we'll say you go along and don't bother to feel guilty for a while and then you do something and the guilt is there a little bit and man they can start finding 100 things for you to feel guilty about.  They start really picking.  And then they begin to threaten you with all sorts of things.  And it can go on and on.  Yeah, they get a little weak, but I've never known one to die.  I think they can hibernate quite well.

(Go dormant.)

Yeah, they just go dormant - - but they're waiting and they're watching; and they're gonna reactivate the minute they find you with the least bit of inattention to what they're capable of.

(Well, if I can't get rid of 'em, I'd just as soon they be dormant.)

That's right.  So let's keep 'em dormant; but that's the easiest thing.  So if you don't feed 'em, they do get dormant.

(Is it possible that they're so clever with me that they're there doin' it and I don't even know it.  Some of these people seem to........)

No I think everything is goin' along real well for you Charles and they're waiting, and they're very patience, ok?  They're just waiting Charles.

(I thought maybe they were so smart, they were working on me and I didn't know it.)

No, you'll know about it when they're workin' on you - - you'll feel miserable.  But I've managed to go a long time sometime and never hear from one; and then some little something happens and they come up with the same old tired story again.

(Well they said this once in a while.)

Yeah, they come by to talk to you - - just to be sure you're still around - - they want to say, "Remember us, we used to go around with you all the time."  Yes?

(I find when I'm tired............)

That's a good time for them to start.

(Ok, I think when I have been busy all day, there's something in me that has gone to sleep so I better go to bed or I will start complaining and gritching and....)

And carrying on.

(So I just go to sleep.........)

Physically and then you can get up and handle it again; but you see they also tell you that you should work real hard and keep lots of activity going so you will get tired 'cause then they know they can get to you.  You see, they are really playing a double whammy on you.  They won't let you rest because you should be busy; and then when they get you real tired, then they can really pull out the big guns.

(That's exactly what it is.)

So you gonna let 'em keep that up.

(Nope.)

Ok, good.

(I'm gonna go home and rest.)

Playin' the princess of the hill, ok?  Good.  Ok.  Yeah, go up and watch.

In the newest book we're putting' out, the last page is my hand scratchin' which says, "It is as simple as that."  And I signed my name to it, so I'm stuck with it.  It is as simple as that.  But you see we want to complicate it and say it's very difficult and hard.  The not i's come say.  “Well, that may be true, but”..... that cancelled that; and then they start in with their junk again, do you see?  Huh?

(Yes.)

Of telling you that it's impossible, that it'll take years and years and years and probably never happen; and by that time you'd be too old to enjoy it anyway and so why bother.  In other words, they will convince you to do nothing about it, ok?  Now that will be their next chore Miss Marilyn.  And to everybody else in here too - - that'll be their next chore.  They’ll say, “You can’t do anything with it - - all that stuff he's talking about - - that sounds all right, BUT”............   “That's good, we got rid of that now”; and then they'll go on with their worn out old lies that you’ve listened to for years.  They say, “It couldn't work; and besides that it's too damn simple”.  So they will convince most people not to do a thing in the world about what we've talked about all week, ok?  And the person will say - - but I tried.  I'm trying.  Yes, very.  Ok?

(Oh, I got'cha.)

Got it now?

(I got it. yeah.)

Ok, you heard now.  Ok.  It is about 12:00 - - people let’s go to lunch.

Ok, we will attempt to talk about something else for a while.  We're gonna talk about generating energy.  We're talking about human energy of course - - not electrical or whatever even though they tell me that human energy is electrical in nature.  Did you ever hear that?

(I think I did.)

Doesn't make any difference.  Anytime we don't have it, we're in a bad shape, is that right?  Did you ever feel you were totally devoid of energy?
